Blu Cypress Solutions started underwriting HeMEP insurance policies in February 2024 and we are now approaching the first renewals of those coverage placements. We believe it to be appropriate to say thank you to our first insured, Pharma-Safe Industrial Services, Inc. We have approached Pharma-Safe for a comment:

Belaire, Jr. and Kenneth Dugas, both experienced Remote Paramedics, propelled the company in the field of medical supply and personnel services for offshore environments, particularly within the Oil & Gas industry. In 2005, Pharma-Safe added Remote Medical Personnel to its service offerings, and expanded again in 2015 to include HSE Personnel, to meet the ever-evolving needs of its clients in the Oil & Gas sector.

It was this sense of accountability that drove Pharma-Safe to find a solution to cover the cost of helicopter flights for non-work-related medical emergencies. After receiving a sizeable invoice for a flight to evacuate an employee having chest pains, Pharma-Safe President Doug Voisin immediately searched for an alternative to self-insurance. In Doug’s words—
“We considered an annual accrual to cover the cost for a future flight, but that was an expensive proposition. Instead, we searched for a more financially prudent way to transfer the risk. We found Helo-Evac and reached out. Unfortunately, in 2023, Jerry (J.W. Lowrimore Chairman of Blu Cypress Solutions) was in the throes of finalizing underwriting terms of the Helicopter Medical Evacuation Program (HeMEP) insurance with Lloyd’s of London and so the product was not ready”
Pharma-Safe regularly followed up on the progress of the Blu Cypress Solutions policy and when the policy became available in February of 2024, became the Blu Cypress Solutions’ first insured. According to Doug:
“the HeMEP policy gives incredible peace of mind, and I rest much easier knowing than an unexpected expense of $100,000 or more is now a covered risk for a fraction of the cost.”

Since binding the first insurance with Pharma-Safe Industrial Services, Blu Cypress Solutions has bound many more policies with vendors who have workers comp. employees on platforms and structures working offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. We have been actively marketing this new form of insurance to operators and their vendors alike, and have met with multiple insurance agents across Louisiana and Texas. From 12/31/2024, we have agreed to our second binder year with Lloyd’s of London, who we are proud to represent and partner with for this new innovative insurance product.
